Dear Mustang Parents and/or Guardians,

Your support at home is essential in helping a student succeed. I have been teaching at Otay Ranch High School> since 2006. I started my teaching career in 2004 working at San Diego High School’s SciTech, School of Science and Technology, part of the San Diego City School District. I was born and raised in San Diego and attended the Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School. I received my B.S. at UCLA in Physiological Science. I was drawn to this major because of my interest in learning about health and illness prevention, as well as, because of my love of sports and experience with sports injuries. As an undergraduate, I was fortunate to study Spanish in Granada, Spain for a summer as part of my minor program of study at UCLA.
I plan to support your son/daughter successfully prepare for college science curricula and/or the next phase or their academic careers while helping them via scientific inquiryBiology is considered to be college-preparatory class as it fulfills a D-level requirement for students fulfilling their A-G requirements to apply to universities within the State of California.
Students will be expected to keep track of assignments by reviewing the course slide show> when they are absent and they are expected to monitor their assignments. Late work due to being absent will be considered within the amount of days absent after due date; other late will not be considered.
Please review the course syllabus> and return the following parent acknowledgement and media release with your son/daughter within two weeks of the start of the semester or receipt. I will make every attempt to resolve challenging situations with every student; however, I may elicit your support when dealing with discipline issues. Please encourage your children to come to class prepared and assist them in doing what they need to at home so that they may have every opportunity to be successful. You may help them by checking that their assignments are completed by reviewing all work as listed on the course slide show presentation of assignments and resources> Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns via e-mail at info@juanitaquevedo.com> or via the school office at (619) 591-5000.
